Glossary
Use the Page setup to define the layout of the pages used for all reports. This includes paper size, paper orientation, page margins and the page footer.
Printer settings:
The current printer type and paper source are displayed at the top of the form. If you wish to change these, click on the Setup button.
Margins:
Enter the measurement for each of the page margins. The unit of measure may be either inches or millimetres as defined by the "Measure" setting.
The printer you are using may have a non-printing area around the edge of the physical page and Kith and Kin Pro will check to make sure that the margins you have set are big enough to include this.
Orientation:
Select Portrait or Landscape to suit the type of report you are printing. Note that the page margins do not change when you change the orientation, but the width and height of the page do.
Page size:
Select the paper size you are using from the list. The list contains all the paper sizes supported by the current printer.
If you want to define a paper size which is not in the list, enter the appropriate Width and Height. The paper size in the list will change to "User-defined size".
Measure:
You can define the margins, page width and height and page footer distance in Inches or mm.
Page footer:
Kith and Kin Pro can print an optional page footer which appears at the bottom of every printed page. The footer can have a date stamp, user-defined text and the page number.
Set "Revision" to include a revision stamp in the page footer. The revision stamp can include the date of printing and some text. It is useful to have the current date printed on each report, particularly when the tree data is constantly being updated and only updated sections are being reprinted. When it's printed, the revision stamp will also include the name of the report and the entire stamp takes the following format: <report> <text> <date>
<report> is dependant on the type of document being printed, eg. "Descendants", "Index", etc.
<text> is user defined text which may be entered in the "Text" field.
<date> is the current date and is formatted the style selected for date output format in Preferences.
Set "Page numbers" to have a page number printed at the bottom of each page. You can enter the text to be printed in front of the page number in "Prefix".
Note that pages numbers start at 1 for each report. If you are printing Family Details reports, a family at a time, for example, each family will start at page 1.
You can choose whether the revision stamp and the page numbers are printed on the left, right or in the centre of the page. Naturally you can't have both printed in the same position.
The page footer is printed between the bottom margin and the bottom of the paper. Set the distance from the bottom of the paper that the page footer should be printed. Your printer may have a non-printing area at the bottom of the page in which case the page footer distance must be greater than that.
You can choose which font you want to use for the page footer in Preferences.
