It is possible to edit data directly in the results list of the Search window. You may want to do this if you have to make a similar change to several records in the database.
For example, if you have added a new user-defined field to the people table, you may want to add the data for the new field for every person in the database. To do this you would apply an appropriate SQL query which would include the new field so that every person record is displayed in the results list but possibly only showing the new field and the "Description" field.
Click on the Enable editing button so that you can type data directly into the fields of the results list. You will see a new column appear on the left of the list; this displays the current record indicator (arrow) and whether the record is being edited (an I-bar). To edit a field simply click on it until the I-bar editing cursor appears and then type in the data you require. Do not double-click or you may open the appropriate data form for the record. To save the changes made to a record you must move to another record, either by clicking on it or by scrolling up or down with the up/down arrow keys. If a record still has the I-bar indicator in the left-hand column then the changes have not been saved.
WARNING
Because you can edit the contents of any record/field using this method, it is possible to corrupt the internal fields used by Kith and Kin Pro. For example, the "Code" field in the People and Families tables must not be altered, if it is then the database will not work correctly and you may lose all your data. Only make changes to data in bulk if you are sure that it is safe to do so.
